WOW, what a STORM we just had.

We went to the Athenree hot pools on Tuesday night for a great hot water soak. While there, we spoke to a lady that mentioned civil defense were advising an Easterly storm was on the way.

Sure enough, On Wednesday night the expected weather bomb came storming in from the East. We could hear the surf at Matakana Island roaring, lots of heavy rain and very high winds too.

Early Thursday morning we woke to a loud thunderous type noise. Looking out the front door, we saw a large old tree covered in ivy had decided to give up its life struggle and crashed to the ground blocking the driveway, just missing the house, and demolishing the UK telephone kiosk, and damaging the caravan.

More rain on and off Thursday and Friday, hopefully we will get the mess sorted and the driveway cleared this weekend. Lots of firewood for the winter now and maybe some good timber also. another two similar trees will probably be felled now also.
